Below are just a few of my favorites (click on each to see larger), including a continuation of my series of viewing the lush island greenery through the crumbling windows and archways of colonial-era island buildings, striking shells of what they once were.

My latest collection of photos are printed in sepia tones. I was interested in trying a totally different approach, and I found my perfect subjects in the gorgeous Argentinean polo horses at the Palm Beach International Polo Club in Wellington, Florida.

I’ve been photographing horses for years in Colorado, but these handsome polo horses are clearly a breed apart. Polo is a classic sport and the vintage look of these sepia images underlines the timeless strength and confidence of these massive steeds.

Please check out the full Sepia gallery to see these horses and a few select architectural details from Italy highlighted in the rich patina of sepia.

I recently returned from a 9-day visit to Italy: Florence, Tuscany, and the Amalfi Coast. The European scenery was breathtaking. (I’m showing just a few thumbnails in this post—please view my entire ITALY gallery of photos here.)

Capri was the most spectacular place I’ve ever been to, and by chance we met up with some old friends there, which made it even better. We spent a day piloting a boat around all the tiny inlets and grottos, visiting off-the-beaten-path fishing villages and even some crumbling old castellos.

A really special few days were spent at a small family-run winery in Tuscany. Check out the 200-year-old bottles of wine in the racks, left by previous tenants.

The family let me help with the winemaking, and I captured that moment in time with this photo of a cascade of fresh red wine.

Ever on the hunt for beautiful textures and reflections, I found the kind of dramatic saturated colors I was looking for in some stunning pieces of Venetian glass.

The food was amazing on this trip, and the wine even better. Italy is simply a little slice of heaven.

I’ve captured the essence of our recent trip to Steamboat, CO, in my latest photos of one of my favorite subjects: horses. Horse photography combines some of my favorite obsessions—textures, nature, and classical beauty.

You’ll see that I’m featuring the photos both in high-resolution technicolor and glossy black-and-white. I’ve put the two types next to each other in the slideshow above so you can see the beauty of each, equally striking in their different ways. (For the whole array of photos at a glance, please visit the Equine gallery.)

I love the super-focused color versions of these photos, which capture the blue skies and green hills of summertime Colorado, as well as the rich mahogany coats and multi-colored manes of the horses. For people looking to bring a combination of color and texture into a room, these photos are irresistible.

But I cannot deny that the black and white versions of these photos are incredibly dramatic. They have a timeless and classic quality to them that gives them a real “Wow” factor, especially when viewed together in a set. People looking for a touch of modernism on their walls recognize that these dramatic photos work really well in that situation.

I’ve already printed and framed a number of these equine photos to show here in Steamboat and am getting a tremendous response from decorators in the area. I’d love to hear what you think of my latest work. Please leave a comment!

You may have noticed that I recently posted a new category of photos on this website called “Triptychs.” I’ve loved photographing reflections and textures up close, and it turns out that decorators and other customers love them, too! After a number of interior designers told me that they like hanging artwork in threes and asked if my photos could be split into trios, I decided to pick out ones that I knew would make the most striking threesomes. Check out my Triptych Gallery and let me know if you agree.
